Salome

Submitted by: Mark Randle
Press Release:     This piece was conceived and recorded about four years ago as a part of a triptych about John the Baptist and Salome with the idea in mind of a short film. It was basically done in one night with practically no overdubs; samples flown in in real time (no sampler or sequencer), utilizing the remarkable sound of a Washburn electric guitar with bread ties laced through the strings next to the bridge, among other unorthodox items. Subsequently the two additional pieces of the triptych were done and two more pieces were added (one on each end of the triptych). At some point the entire mess ended up only on tape (originally recorded on a Roland VS880). This particular version has been flown back into the VS and then subsequently to a workstation for noise reduction, compression and normalization.
