The mentees were two very talented ladies with good, realistic heads on their shoulders. They wanted feedback on the marketability of their show, production values, the environment in public radio in general, the players worth approaching, what to do in concrete terms to ensure that the show is really ready for a national launch, and many other details about marketing, development of a new program. It was a pleasure and hopefully will continue to be a pleasure to work with both of them. Every time I do a mentorship, I learn more about my own profession and how I can be of greater service.
-- Sheila Gerzoff, Mentor
The mentor was very structured and helpful. She had me write up lists of useful contacts; she described how to develop a station survey; she went over my demo shows and gave me feedback. She helped me understand what program directors are looking for and gave me lots of "homework" to do on my show before approaching program directors.
I feel like I now have a roadmap for what I need to do next with my show and where to direct my resources.
